This is because Donald Ceng Xiong was extremely close to Lung at that time and views him as some what between an older brother and mentor. However, the leader of the ABB sees him as only an asset that is expendable.Whenever Lung was angry or fustrated, he would lash out at Donald Ceng Xiong and call him all sorts of names. Despite the fact Lung has abused him, the ABB leader would often open up to Donald Ceng Xiong and share the tortures which he had gone through while being part of the Yangbban, something which even Oni Lee and Bakuda did not know.Lung also had some unnatural fetiches that only Donald Ceng Xiong knows about. The ABB leader would often tell him, "You tell anyone and it will cost you your head. You run away from ABB, you die!" Donald Ceng Xiong almost laugh once but he stopped on time knowing it would cost him his life. Disown by his parents and most of his family members, Donald Ceng Xiong had nowhere to go. Donald Ceng Xiong had a crush on Maddison for a while but he did not act on it for fear of putting her in danger and for his own life.During the period where Taylor Hebert sent her insects on Lung and his men, Donald Ceng Xiong took the opportunity to escape during the chaos. Donald Ceng Xiong ran up an unknown harbour ship and was taken to South Africa.The boat finally reached South Africa and Donald Ceng Xiong got off the boat and looked around. The teenager turned into a green lappet faced vulture and flew into a Safari and landed turning back into his human form. The teenage boy had been tired of the abuse and snapped turning into his big green cave bear form. He gave Lung a good fight for a while but the leader of the ABB who grew stronger with each fight eventually took him down forcing Donald Ceng Xiong to surrender. Lung said in his accent, "You are still only a teenager!" and launch a tirade of abusive words.Donald Ceng Xiong was glad he could use his power to help someone. The man who happened to be a resident from New York offered to take care of Donald Ceng Xiong and upon learning he was an American resident offered to take him back to New York. He said, "Thank you for saving my daughter. Please stay with us and come back to New York with us".The man took Donald Ceng Xiong to the USA embassy to report him as a stole away abandoned boy. Donald Ceng Xiong helped the man take care of his four year old daughter for the next three . months. The teenage boy also learned to channel his powers. This was done mainly at during the afternoon when the family were having their afternoon nap. Donald Ceng Xiong learned he could control vultures and tell them where to go. He even turned into his giant green bear form to test the limit of his strength. He could defeat most animals in the African savannah and could even temporarily stop a white rhino but was eventually overpowered and nearly gored to death.Three months later, Donald Ceng Xiong was taken back to New York with the family. The man thanked Donald Ceng Xiong but said they couldn't afford to take him in and sent him to a boarding school instead. The teenage boy felt abandoned again. Donald Ceng Xiong's time in high school was a lonely one. He knew no one and had no friends for year.All that changed when Donald Ceng Xiong went to a costume party and dressed in the costume of a green bear. A boy who was half causcasian/half Asian complimented him on his costume and introduced him to his friends. Donald Ceng Xiong now had friends but he was still shy around girls. Yet he still observed how his new friends would chat up girls or at least attempt to do so and would laugh at them should they fail. Little did Donald Ceng Xiong realise that he would use one of these lines when he met Maddison during his college life.Back in Brockton Bay, Lung had been hunting down Donald Ceng Xiong for a while but was unable to find him. He ended up posting information on Donald Ceng Xiong on the Wikipedia and with it offered a handsome reward for anyone who would turn him in framing him for the wounds Taylor and the Undersiders did to him. Lung was indirectly taking out his anger on Donald Ceng Xiong again but this agenda was mainly to stop the teenage who is now a young man from leaking out his dirty and embarrassing secrets.Donald Ceng Xiong ironically did not release any of these dirty secrets, however, his information on the Wikipedia put him in danger from the Yangbban who were still hunting down Lung and wanted to use Donald Ceng Xiong as bait.Lappet faced vultures are the most aggressive extant vultures today. While they are not the heaviest, they are able to easily dominate even the heavier cape griffons at carcasses.
